Scott Allen Witmer, 44, was recently arrested for DUI (driving under the influence). A Pennsylvania judge states he will not be released from jail until he gets a mental examination. This is because Witmer says, “Courts have no control over me because I am my own country.” He also stated in the courtroom, “I live inside myself, not in Pennsylvania.” He thinks there is no victim in this crime. Witmer appeared in court and was released on original bail. “I didn’t mean to waste the court’s time, I felt I had the right to see it through” He said while on trial. People think he realizes he was misplaced.
60-year old woman gives birth to twins. By: Kayla Irby Frieda Birnbaum delivered twin boys and has become the eldest woman in the United States of America to give birth to twins. The twins were delivered in Hackensack New Jersey. One baby weighed 4 pounds and 11.4 ounces while the other baby weighed 4 pounds and 11 ounces. Frieda says having these twins were a great experience. Frieda also has 3 other children. A 33-year old son, a 29-year old year daughter and a 6-year old son. Doctors say this was a very high risk for the babies. No one has had this experience before at her age. Frieda decided that she wanted to have twins by reading a magazine article about kids, on a cruise ship. Frieda looks forward to dressing them in matching outfits. Before, Frieda has had some of her eggs frozen. For the sake of Frieda’s babies she “plans” on staying around for a long time. “My mother lived until 89 and my father lived until 92.” Said Frieda. Even though Frieda is the oldest woman to ever give birth to twins in America. There is another lady that’s Spanish had twins seven days before she turned 67. Frieda is doing well with the twins and is happy with this miracle.

Apparently, California’s on fire. By: Kayla Irby More than five-hundred acres of land in California have now been destroyed. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger estimated that dozens & dozens of houses had been destroyed because of wild fires. Thousands have been evacuated so far. Santa Barbara County Capt. David Sadecki predicted that the “sundowner” winds were going to happen in that particular California area. Sadecki says it’s too dangerous to do containment lines. There doing some structure protection. But in this case in California fire fighters can be safe one minute and in danger the next minute. 10 fire fighters have been injured so far. This includes three Ventura County fire fighters whose fire truck overtaken by fire as they tried to protect a structure. If things keep going like this California could be in a lot of trouble.
Oil Refinery explosion! By: Kayla Irby In Claymont Delaware, Firefighters had to put out a major blaze on May 18th, 2009. This was caused by a local oil refinery. This came by many nearby homes, but there were no injuries thankfully. A fireball from Sunoco Inc’s Marcus Hook factory lit up the sky on May 17th, 2009. Fire fighters came rushing through and started spraying the flames away with water, straddling the Delaware/Pennsylvania border. By the 18th, everything was okay. But spokes person Thomas Golembeski said, “The company won't be able to assess the extent of the damage until it is safe to go in to the area.” The refinery still opened that afternoon and even some employees reported to work. They monitored air quality of hour to make sure everything was safe. New Castle County Del. Council men, John Cartier said, “I could see the flames from his home at least three miles from the refinery and he felt the blast. There was a big boom inside my house.” After this explosion everything went back to normal, and the workers at the refinery are still checking often to make sure everything is safe.
